I found this article very interesting with all the facts that it provided about the population of people that get government assistance. I never really saw people who carry an EBT card in a negative way so after reading this article I feel even stronger about that. I personally don't see the big deal with people buying things like chocolates for Valentine's Day or like the article stated about the individual who bought a tenderloin. I can definitely understand why a few people find it a bit uncomfortable to witness these things but at the end of the day there is only so much these people can purchase with the EBT cards.
I appreciated the facts that were given in defense of the people who get government assistance when they mentioned how people don't mouth off about student loans and so on. That definitely opened up my eyes more as to how cruel of the idea to make a big deal as to give an opinion on what foods these people should or should not be purchasing but not say a word about the people who get assistance through the home mortgage-interest deduction. I can definitely say that I have built up my defenses towards the people who are on government assistance in order to have enough to buy foods. So all in all I have learned a great deal on this topic and my views on it have only gotten stronger.
